Who is Alex Jones?

Alexander Emerick ‘Alex’ Jones is an American Television and radio show personality. He is also a filmmaker and writer and the host of ‘The Alex Jones Show’ that airs on the Genesis communications Network, from Austin, Texas as well as WWCR, a short-wave radio station, in Nashville, Tennessee. He is also the owner of a website called Infowars.com which is labelled a fake news website.

Jones has gained notoriety for being ‘America’s leading conspiracy theorist’ as described by New York magazine. Also, the Southern Poverty Law Centre, describes him as Contemporary America’s most prolific conspiracy theorist. The centre of many a controversies, Jones has made statements accusing the U.S. government; claiming its involvement in matters such as the Oklahoma City Bombing of 1995, the 9/11 attacks of 2001. He has also claimed the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting of 2012 was staged among many other theories. While he calls himself a libertarian and paleo-conservative, he is described by others as a pro-Russia propagandist.

Early Life and Education

Jones was born on February 11, 1974 in Dallas, Texas to David Jones, a dentist and Carol Gretchen Hamman, a homemaker. Jones was raised in Rockwall, a suburb in Dallas as well as Austin, Texas. According to his own video podcasts, Jones is of mixed ancestry including Irish, German, Welsh and partially Native American descent, but identifies himself as mostly English.

In 1993, Jones graduated from Anderson High School in Austin where he served as a lineman on his school’s football team. After graduating high school, he attended Austin Community college. In May 2017, it was reported that Jones’ mother was a CIA informer and the co-founder of his website Infowars.com.

Career

Jones started his career as a television personality in Austin Texas for a live public-access cable TV program but switched to radio in 1996 where he hosted a show titled ‘The Final Edition’ on KJFK on 98.9FM. He hosted Congress’ Ron Paul on his show many times. It was during his early days on the show that he openly started expressing his belief and opinion that the U.S. government backed the Oklahoma City bombing of 1995 and released his first film titled ‘America Destroyed By Design’ in 1998. He tied with Shannon Burke in 1999, winning “Best Austin Talk Radio Host” poll, but was fired by KJFK-FM later in the year because he refused to broaden his topics, which made it difficult for the network to acquire advertisers.

Jones has helmed many a controversy theory movies from 1998 to 2012 and also made brief appearances in movies such as Waking Life in 2001, ‘A Scanner Darkly’ in 2006 and ‘Amerigeddon’ in 2016. He has also authored 2 books; ‘9-11: Descent Into Tyranny’ released in 2002, and ‘The Answer to 1984 Is 1776’ released in 2008. He currently hosts ‘The Alex Jones Show’ on the Genesis Communications Network.

Personal Life

Jones was married to Kelly Rebecca Nichols until 2015. The couple had three children together, a son named Rex and two daughters. The couple ended their marriage in a bitter divorce in 2015 due do Nichols’ claims of physical and mental abuse and trauma from Jones’ conspiracy theories.

While Jones formerly won the primary sole custody of the children, he was stripped of it and the court awarded Nichols joint custody and the right to decide where the children lived. According to Nichols’ lawyer, Jones made Kelly a victim of ‘parental alienation’ and brainwashed their children against her.
