Chuck Todd – Know him Better




Charles David “Chuck” Todd is a popular American television journalist, known widely for his role as the 12th moderator on ‘Meet the Press’, a weekly television news and interview program on the NBC Network. ‘Meet the Press’ is also the longest running program on TV history, with its first episode aired on November 6, 1947.  He also serves as the politicial director of NBC News, since 2007.

Chuck Todd served as a host on MTP Daily, the MSNBC show. In 2001, Todd was named as one of the 50 most influential people in the world of politics by George magazine.

Early Life and Education

Todd was born and raised in Miami, Florida on 8 April, 1972. He is the son of Stephen Randolph Todd and Lois Cheri (née Bernstein). Todd has English ancestry on his father’s side and Russian Jewish, Hungarian Jewish and Latvian Jewish descent on his mother’s side. He was raised in a family that followed Judaism and identifies himself as a Jew. Todd does not have any siblings.

During his high school years, Todd attended Miami Killian Senior High School, Kendall, Greater Miami, from where he also graduated. From 1990 to 1994, he attended the George Washington University, in Washington D.C. where he chose to major in Political Science and minor in Music but he was unable to graduate. At the university, he played French horn and earned himself a music scholarship.

Todd started his career in 1992 and in the more than 2 decade long career, found himself in prolific positions. Before he took the helm at ‘Meet the Press’, he served as the Chief White House correspondent for NBC and also hosted MSNBC’s ‘The Daily Rundown’.

Apart from this, Todd is also an on-air political analyst for the news show ‘Today’ and another popular show on NBC News titled ‘NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt’. He occasionally visits John Hopkins University as an adjunct professor. 

Todd began his career in the field of political reporting and analysis in Florida where he gained practical political experiences.  He worked on political campaigns in Florida as well as Washington D.C. His early works include the 1992 presidential campaign for Senator Tom Harkin.

Todd also held a position at the National Journal’s ‘The Hotline’ and worked there from 1992 to March 2007. At ‘The Hotline’, the charimastic personality served as an editor in chief for six years and co-hosted the webcast series titled ‘Hotline TV’ with John Mercurio.

In March 2007, Todd joined NBC news where he became the Political Director and often provides political analysis on various political discussion shows such as ‘Morning Joe’, ‘Meet the Press’, ‘Hardball with Chris Matthews’, ‘NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt’ etc

. Todd took over as the host of the show ‘Meet the Press’ in September 2014. He also hosts ‘MTP Daily’, a daily political show on MSNBC, since July 2015.

Todd is the husband of Kristian Denny Todd, a communications professional who also co-founded Maverick Strategies and Mail, a company that provides direct mail as well as consulting services to Democratic candidates. Together, the couple have two children, a daughter named Margaret and a son named Harrison. The family lives in Arlington, West Virginia.

In recognition of his work in the field of Journalism, Marymount University in Arlington Virginia bestowed Todd with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.
