Alexandra Hetherington Breckenridge is an American actress, voice artist, photographer, and singer. She has played supporting roles in several TV series and movies. She is also a well known voice actress. She first became famous after her role as Jessie Anderson in the AMC zombie series ‘The Walking Dead’.

Alexandra got her first major lead role in 2019 in the Netflix series Virgin River. The second season of Virgin River premiered in November 2020 and she returned as the character ‘Melinda “Mel” Monroe’.

Early Life

Breckenridge was born on May 15, 1982 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She grew up in Darien, Connecticut till age ten. Later, her mother relocated to Mill Valley, California. Alex became interested in acting, singing, and photography after performing at local theater productions at age 13 years. Subsequently, she and her mother moved to Los Angeles so that Alexandra could pursue her dreams of becoming an actress.

Career

Breckenridge got her first acting role as a guest star ‘Shelly Weaver’ in Freaks and Geeks in the year 2000. After that she had guest appearances in TV series like Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, JAG, Medium, Dawson’s Creek, Opposite Sex, and Undeclared. Her first role in a movie was in the 2002 movie Big Fat Liar as the older sister Janie to Frankie Muniz’s character.

Alexandra has done many voice roles in Seth MacFarlane’s animated TV series Family Guy. She has done celebrity impressions Renée Zellweger, Sarah Jessica Parker, and others in the series. She also portrayed various characters in Seth’s web series ‘Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy’.

Alexandra found some level of recognition and fame after her supporting role as Monique in the 2006 movie ‘She’s the Man’. After that she had roles in varied series and movies like Dirt, The Bridge to Nowhere, Ticket Out, True Blood, American Horror Story, and Coven.

In 2015, Breckenridge got a major role as Jessie Anderson in the AMC horror zombie series The Walking Dead. She also co-starred in the 2015 film Dark and had a recurring/regular role in hit NBC drama series “This Is Us”.

Alexandra hit big-time acting success with her role as Melinda “Mel” Monroe in the 2019 Netflix series Virgin River. The series is a romantic drama that tells the tale of Mel, a nurse practitioner and midwife, who travels to the remote town of Virgin River in California with the thought that the move would provide a fresh start, away from her agonizing memories. But realization soon dawns on her that the remote town is not as simplistic as it appears to be.
