Maite was born on March 9, 1983 in Mexico City. Her father moved the family to Guadalajara when she was very young and she grew up there. The family returned to Mexico City when she was 12 years old. She has 2 brothers, Adolfo and Francisco.

Mai’s acting career started as soon as she finished the acting course from CEA. She was offered the role of ‘Guadalupe “Lupita” Fernandez’ in the telenovela (soap opera) Rebelde. She played the role of a teenage girl belonging to a lower-class family who lands an opportunity to go to the fictional ‘Elite Way School’. The show was a big hit and ran for 440 episodes for 2 years from 2004 to 06.
After Rebelde, she starred as the lead in several telenovelas such as Cuidado con el angel, Mi Pecado, Triunfo del Amor, Cachito de Cielo, La Gata, Papá a toda madre, and Oscuro deseo, etc. She has won many Tvynovelas awards, including ‘Best Young Actress’ and ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ awards. She also did voice acting for many movies as well as acted in and produced a movie. In the Spanish versions of global hits such as Guardians of the Galaxy and others, she voiced the lead roles in those movies. Maite’s singing career took off after her acting debut in Rebelde. She became the lead singer of the newly formed musical band RBD. Her presence in the group helped it achieve global acclaim and recognition, especially in the Latin world. The band split up in late 2008. Till date, the group has released 9 studio albums and has sold more than 15 million albums and over 50 million records worldwide. They have also played at numerous sold-out venues across the world.
