Kim Victoria Fields is a famous American television actress and director who gained nationwide recognition for her portrayal of Dorothy “Tootie” Ramsey on the long-running sit-com ‘The Facts of Life’ that aired on NBC for 9 seasons from 1979-1988. Fields also appeared as Regina “Regine” Hunter on the popular Fox network sitcom ‘Living Single’ that aired for five seasons from 1993-1998. Additionally, Fields is also a musician and was part of the R&B and rap music band ‘Impromp 2’.

Early Life and Education

Fields was born on 12 May 1969 in New York City, New York, USA as the daughter of actress Chip Fields and her first husband. She is the step daughter of her mother’s second husband Erv Hurd. Fields has two siblings, sisters Alexis and Jere Fields who are also actresses and was raised along with them in Los Angeles, California. She is of African-American Ethnicity and was one of the most successful female African-American (or colour) child artiste in history. Fields has Jamaican ancestry.

Fields completed her primary and secondary education and graduated high school in 1989 from Burbank High School, Burbank California in 1986 where she was an office employee and baseball manager and acted in several school plays. She later attended Pepperdine University, Malibu, California from where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in tele-communications, specializing in broadcast journalism and TV production.

Career Rise

Fields began her career as a child artiste at age 8, portraying Sharon Hayes in the 1977 TV movie ‘Have I Got a Christmas for You’. She earned her first big role in the 1978 CBS series ‘Baby, I’m Back’ in which she essayed the role of Angie Ellis. She also appeared as Kim on two episodes of the show ‘Good Times’. Fields then appeared on several episodes on the show ‘Diff’rent Strokes’. Fields gained prominence for her main role as Dorothy ‘Tootie’ Ramsey on the long-running NBC sit-com ‘The Facts of Life’ that aired for nine years, completing 9 seasons from 1979-1988. She started portraying the main role of Regina “Regine” Hunter in the Fox network series ‘Living Single’ that ran from August 1993-January 1998, for five seasons. After the series was cancelled, Fields started performing R&B and rap music with the band Impromp 2. Fields started dating Broadway actor Christopher Morgan and became the mother of his first child, a son named Sebastian Alexander Morgan in May 2007. Fields and Morgan got married in a private ceremony which was officiated by Pastor Donnie McClurkin on 24 July 2004.
