Mark Richard Hamill is a famous America actor, voice artist and an author. He is best known for portraying the character of Luke Skywalker in the Star War movie series. He has been part of a number of other popular Hollywood movies as well.
Apart from being part of the big screen, Hamill has also been part of the theatres and did a number of plays during the late 1980s. His voice acting skills are also much appreciated and he has been giving his voice to a number of popular animated movies and series. He is best known for his role as The Joker in the DC Comics.

Early life and education
Mark Hamill was born on September 25, 1951 in Oakland, California to Virginia Suzanne and William Thomas Hamill. His father was a U.S Navy Captain and his mother was a homemaker. He has six other siblings, two brothers, Will and Patrick and four sisters Terry, Jan, Jeanie and Kim.
Due to his father’s transferable job, Hamill and his family had to shift to different places due to it. He had to even change schools accordingly during his elementary school days. Hamill attended the Walshingham Academy and Poe Middle School during his elementary school years. Later, the family shifted to California and Hamill did his first year of high school from the Hale Junior High School after which he again had to change schools.
Hamill later attended the Annandale High School followed by Nile C. Kinnick High School in Japan fro, where he finally graduated in the year 1969. Later, he enrolled himself in the Los Angeles City College from where he graduated with a degree in drama.

Hamill married a dental hygienist, Marilou York on December 17, 1978 in a private ceremony. The couple are proud parents of three children Nathan, Griffin and Chelsea Elizabeth.
Career
Hamill started off his career playing small and supporting roles in theatres and plays and sitcoms. His very first role was that in the soap opera The General Hospital. He was even part of a short sitcom The Texas wheelers. Some of the other shows and series that he has been part of include Eight is Enough, The Bill Cosby Show, Partridge Family, Room 222, One Day at a Time et cetera.
Whilst auditioning for the cast of Apocalypse Now, Robert Englund had the sudden realization after seeing the 1.75 meter tall Hamill that he would be the perfect to play the character of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars and that was how it started. He suggested him to audition for the role and Hamill eventually bagged the role.
Hamill rose to fame with the unprecedented success of the Star Wars series and he eventually played the character in all the latter parts of the series. It was the movie that got him the recognition and he featured in a number of magazines following the success of the movie.
He has also been part of a number of other movies as well namely The Big Red One, The Muppet Show, The Elephant Man et cetera. He even is the co-author of the comic series The Black Pearl.
