Queen Rania – Not Just Beautiful!

Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan is best known for her significant contributions towards public education, women empowerment, microfinance and health measures for a better society. She is also popular as an explicit opponent of the practice of “honor killings”. She is the wife of Abdullah bin al-Hussein, the present King of Jordan. She is also famous for her upbeat tweets to 1.6 millions followers.

Early life and background

Rania Al-Yaseen was born on 31st August in the year 1970 in Kuwait, to Ilham Yassin and Faisal Sedki al-Yassin. She received her high school education from the New English School in Jabriya, Kuwait. After that, she joined the American University in Cairo in order to acquire a degree in Business Administration. She completed her graduation in the year 1991.  She served briefly as a marketing executive in Citibank. After that, she worked with Apple Inc. in Amman.

Career achievement

Queen Rania has utilized her position to campaign for several zones of the society in Jordan and beyond, since her marriage.

She has introduced, promoted and sponsored certain initiatives in learning and education. She also serves as the chairperson of Jordan’s first interactive children’s museum. This museum strives to nurture and encourage lifelong learning for the children and their parents.

In the year 2005, the queen launched the Queen Rania Award for excellence in Education.

Apart from the educational zone, Queen Rania has also contributed largely to the sector of community empowerment. Her first undertaking was the formation of the Jordan River Foundation in the year 1995.

The beautiful queen of Jordan sponsored the ‘Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans’ in the year 2003. In 2007, she was titled as the first Eminent Advocate for Children by the UNICEF. In the next year, she introduced “Madrasati” (“My School”) which aimed at modernizing 500 of the public schools of Jordan.

She also launched and implemented several campaigns in some forums including ‘The Kennedy School of Government’, ‘The Skoll Foundation’ in the UK and the ‘Jeddah Economic Forum’.

Queen Rania – Husband and Children

In August 1992, the beautiful queen met Abdullah bin Al-Hussein, who was the prince of Jordan at that time. They met at a dinner party organized by the sister of Prince Abdullah. They were engaged just two months after their meeting. They got married in the year 1993.

The couple has two daughters, Princess Iman and Princess Salma and two sons, Crown Prince Hussein and Prince Hashem.

The current net worth of this beautiful and powerful queen of Jordan reached an amount of $35 million. In the year 1999, she was crowned queen when her husband succeeded to the throne.
