Why Anthony Scaramucci will not forget July 2017




Anthony Scaramucci, also known by his nickname ‘The Mooch’, is a reputed American financier and political figure who is set to serve in the capacity of the Communications Director at the White house following the resignation of Sean Spicer. Scaramucci previously served on the Executive Committee of the Presidential-Transition Team after the election of Donald J. Trump as the President of USA. Trump announced his intention of appoint Scarammuci in his new administration in January 2017 but he his swearing-in was delayed owing to reviews of his finances as mandated by the Office of Government Ethics.

Within ten days of his appointment, Scaramucci was removed from the post as the White House Communications Director on July 31, 2017. It is reported that the appointment of General John Kelly as the new chief of staff on the same day, has something to do with the turn of events.

Scaramucci started his career in 1989 as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs and continued until 1996 in various capacities including a position in the Private Wealth Management division. He founded his own global investment firm in 2005 called SkyBridge Capital where he serves as a co-managing partner. After being offered a role in the new administration of President Trump, Scaramucci sold his company in early 2017.

Early Life and Education

Scaramucci was born on 6 January, 1964 in Long Island, New York, U.S. in a middle class family to construction worker Alexander Scaramucci and his wife, homemaker Marie DeFeo Scaramucci. Scaramucci is of Italain-American ancestry, with his granfather immigrating to USA from the city of Gualdo Tadino, Italy. He was raised as a Roman Catholic.He has one sibling, a brother named David.

Scaramucci attended the Paul D. Schreiber Senior High School in Port Washington, New York, where he became the student council president and graduated in 1982. He later enrolled into Tufts University, Medford Massachusetts from where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. He also attended Harvard Law School and earned his Juris Doctor Degree.

Career Rise

In 1996, Scaramucci co-founded Oscar Capital Management but sold the company to Neuberger Berman in 2001 which was later acquired by Lehman Brothers in 2003, on which Scaramucci was named the Managing Director of the Investment Management division. Scaramucci founded his second company, SkyBridge Capital in 2005 which was an alternative investment firm and served as the chairman of its “SALT” Conference which was launched in 2009. He started a career in television as the host of the financial television news program ‘Wall Street Week’ that first aired on PBS and then on Fox. Scaramucci was felicitated with an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for New York in 2011 for financial services, He stepped down as co-manager and “Salt” chairman  of Skybridge after selling a majority stake to the company RON Transatlantic.

Scaramucci announced his endorsement of Republican nominee Donald Trump in May 2016 and joined his Finance Comittee and was later served on the Executive Committee of the Presidential-Transition Team. Upon his election as president, Trump announced his intention of electing Scaramucci as theDirector of the White House Office of Public Liaison and Intergovernmental Affairs but owing to several delays in the mandated reviews of his finance by the Government Ethics Office, his swearing-in was delayed and George Sifakis was elected to the position in March 2017. In June 2017, Scaramucci became U.S. Export-Import Bank’s chief strategy officer and senior Vice President and in July 2017, following Sean Spicer’s resignation as Communications Director at the White House, Scaramucci was named as his replacement.

Personal Life

Scaramucci dated Diedre Ball, an investor relations executive at Skybridge, for many years and married her eventually with his wife taking his name legally after their marriage. The couple married in 2014 and have two kids, Nicholas and James. In early July 2017, Ball fired for divorce, when she was 9 months pregnant with her second child.

Scaramucci’s brother David battled drug and alcohol addiction owing to their parents’ rocky marriage. He has been a life-long fan of the New York Mets.

Divorce Reason

Diedre Ball, according to reports, was happy living on Long Island with her husband and her kids.  She didn’t particularly endorse her husband’s fierce political ambitions. On top of that, she was not a Trump supporter. So, she thought it would be best to let her husband embrace his political ambitions and filed for divorce, according to certain sections in the media.

Scaramucci draws an annual salary of $7 Million. He was not to charge any salary for his post the White House Communications Director. He has an estimated net worth of approximately $1.5 billion.
