Lara Spencer – The Success Story




Lara Spencer, born as Lara Christine Von Seelen, is an eminent American television journalist. She is currently serving as the co-anchor for ABC’s show “Good Morning America”. Apart from this, she is also the correspondent of ABC News and Nightlife. In her glorious career she has been associated with several televisions shows namely “ The Insider”,” The Early Show” , “Antiques Roadshow” etc.

Early life and Background

Lara Spencer was born on 19th June, 1969 in Garden City, New York, USA. Her father, Richard von Seelen, was the president of North American division of Pringle of Scotland, which is a popular knitwear manufacturing brand. Her mother, Carolyn, was a homemaker. She spent her childhood in the posh suburb of Garden City, Long Island, New York.

Lara Spencer attended the Garden City High School. She completed her high school education in the year 1987. Thereafter, she enrolled in “the Pennsylvania State University” and completed her graduation degree in broadcast journalism. In the year 1991, while studying in the university, Lara was named an “All American Athlete”. In the year 2014, Lara was bestowed with the title of grand marshal at the  Penn State’s Homecoming 2014.

Career

After completing her graduation, Lara joined the “NBC page” program. She used to work as a volunteer and assisted various reporters to gain experience. Thereafter, she got the opportunity to work with WDEF-TV, a CBS affiliate based in Chattanooga. She served as a one man army for the channel by taking up the responsibility of a reporter, producer, editor, cameraman and news-van driver. After serving the channel for a year, Lara joined “News 12 Long Island”. Then, after two years, she started hosting the 3 AM newscast for WABC-TV. While working for the channel, she got the chance to cover the “TWA Flight 800 crash” which is considered to be a major break in her career. In the year 1999, Lara got the chance to join the ABC network as a national correspondent for the show “Good Morning America”.

In addition to this, Spencer was the executive producer and creator of the NBC’s primetime game show called “It’s Worth What?” The show was hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and was aired in the year 1999. Based on her passion for interior designing, she produced shows like “I Brake for Yard Sales” for HGTV. She has also produced a flea market-based television series called “Flea Market Flip”. The show is currently being broadcasted by the Great American Country. Not only this, Lara has hosted many significant events which include the 87th Miss America Pageant, Miss America 2015 and so on.

In addition to this, Lara Spencer has also authored two books namely “I Brake for Yard Sales” and “Flea Market Fabulous: Designing Gorgeous Rooms with Vintage Treasures”.

House

The 1.68 meter tall Lara Spencer used to reside with her family in the Riverside section of Greenwich connector. Later in the year 2008, she shifted to Los Angles. She currently lives with her children in a 1961  Hollywood Hills house.
