Aishwarya Rai or more precisely Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is counted as one of the most beautiful women in the world. She is a famous Indian actress and model. In the year 1994, she won the coveted title of Miss World. By dint of her acting and modeling skills, she has gained the status of one of the most popular celebrities in India. In her glorious career ,she has won several awards. She has also been conferred upon the “ Padma Shri” award by the Government of India. Apart from this she has been associated with several efforts for the upliftment of the society. In the 2012, Aishwarya was appointed as the “Goodwill Ambassador” for UNAIDS. Early life and background

Aishwarya Rai, the epitome of beauty and elegance, was born on November 1^st 1973 in Mangalore ,Karnataka. Her father, Mr Krishnaraj, was an army biologist while her mother, Brindya, was a homemaker. She has an elder brother Aditya Rai ,who serves as an engineer in Merchant Navy.In subsequent years her family shifted to Mumbai where she joined the Arya Vidya Mandir High School. She later studied in Jai Hind College for a year and thereafter joined DG Ruparel College in Matunga. Aishwarya was a bright student and scored 90% marks in the HSC exam. During her school days her favorite subject was biology and she used to cherish the dream of having a career in the field of medicine. Later ,she joined the Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture but quit studies to pursue a career in modeling.

Career

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan started her career in the glamour world as a model. In 1991 she won the international super model contest organized by the Ford. This success helped her to feature in the American edition of popular magazine Vogue. Later in the year 1994 she was crowned with the title of Miss World.

She stepped into the film world with Mani Ratnam’s “Iruvar”. The film gained critical acclamation. She later made her entry into the Bollywood movies with “ Aur Pyar Ho Gaya”. Although the film was a commercial failure, she won the Screen Award “for “Best Female Debut”. She tasted commercial success with films like Jeans, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam ,Devdas etc. In subsequent years she has acted in many Bollywood movies which includesTaal, Dhoom 2, Raincoat,Mohabattein,Guru, Jodha Akbar,Guzarish and many more.
