Spieth was born on June 27 in 1993, in Dallas, Texas to parents Shawn and Mary. He has a sister Ellie and a brother Steven; both are younger than him. Spieth credits his sister Ellie for inspiring him to give his best for the game. He studied in St. Monica Catholic School and graduated from University of Texas (Jesuit College Preparatory School). Along with Tiger Woods, he is the only winner to win US Junior Amateur in 2009 and 2011. He also got second ranking in the Junior PGA Championship in 2008 and 2009. He was called the Rolex Junior Player of the Year for 2009 by the American Junior Golf Association. He also bagged the number one amateur position in the World Amateur Ranking for his performance in the US Open.

Spieth won his very own first major at the Masters (one of the four major professional golf competitions in the world) in 2015, with a score of 270 (-18), pocketing a prize money of $1.8 million. By tying the 72- hole record set by Tiger Woods back in 1997, he became the second youngest to win the Masters, second only to Woods. He also won the 2015 US open with a score of 5-under-par. Spieth is also the third youngest player to win multiple events in PGA.
